Vape stores fail age test

TEST purchasing in four cities across Great Britain, including Glasgow and Edinburgh, revealed that  two thirds of the country’s vape stores are at risk of selling to minors.

Japan Tobacco International worked with Age Check Certification Services to test 344 stores on whether they were following Challenge 25 best practice and found that staff at 234 needed further training.

Charlie Cunningham-Reid, JTI UK corporate affairs and communications vice president, said: “Our IDentify scheme aims to tackle the problem of underage sales by providing training and support for retailers, in particular to independent retailers who often don’t have the resources to provide the same level of staff training that larger stores do.”
