The refill station in Edinburgh

IN a bid to cut plastic waste, Scotmid has introduced its first ever self-service refill station for dried foods.

Customers at the society’s Edinburgh Stockbridge store can fill up their own plastic containers with products like coffee, pasta and couscous.

The trial is being carried out in conjunction with Glasgow firm Greencity Wholefoods, who are providing the products for the dispenser.

Kirsty George, Scotmid local sourcing manager, said that the refill station had generated a “buzz” on social media and been well received by customers.
