Old recipe Bru coming soon.

THE recipe for Irn-Bru has been something of a headline grabber and AG Barr has decided to roll things back – way back.

This Christmas, Scottish shoppers will be able to get their hands on a limited edition Irn-Bru release which AG Barr said is made to the original recipe from 1901.

Dubbed ‘old and unimproved’, the special Irn-Bru release will only be available from 2 December in traditional 75cl glass bottles which are expected to retail at around £2.

Robin Barr, the family member who unearthed the handwritten 1901 recipe said: “The 1901 recipe has aged beautifully over the last 118 years. For a limited time, we’ll be producing a premium ‘old and unimproved’ IRN-BRU 1901 just as it was enjoyed by our first fans.

“This is Irn-Bru as you’ve never tasted it. It’s a chance to enjoy a unique and authentic piece of Scottish history – but don’t hang about, we don’t think it will be around for long.”
