Spar is the latest player in the wine category to tap into the soaring popularity of rosé, launching its own Méditerranée Rosé last month.
The paler, dry wine – which comes from the south of France – targets a key gap in the market, as Provence-style rosé is currently seeing sales growth of 16.5%.
Philippa Carr, master of wine at Spar UK, said: “Our Méditerranée Rosé is set to be a hit with shoppers this summer, as whatever the British summer weather does, the trend is towards Provence-style salmon-pink wines.
“The wine works perfectly chilled as an aperitif or served with seafood or tomato and mozzarella salad, making it a fantastic addition to our retailers’ wine offerings this season.”
Joining Spar’s existing range of Regional Selection wines, the launch of Méditerranée Rosé has been supported by POS materials for retailers. It is priced at RRP £7.
