REVERSE vending machine firm Envipco has teamed up with the Scottish Grocers Federation and recycling firm Viridor to trial its RVMs in three Scottish stores.

Edinburgh stores Broadway Convenience and Keystore Moredun Park Rd, and Nisa on North Rd in Bellshill will participate in a three month trial commencing in February.

The trial will see the retailers offer 10p credit returns on cans and PET bottles when redeemed using the Envipco RVM in store.

Abdul Majid of Nisa Bellshill said: “I was originally one of the biggest critics of DRS. For me, the journey that myself and the SGF have been on is about learning and understanding and we’re at a point where we can help the government make a decision on a system that works for retailers.”
