Energy to go? Go for it

Brands advise putting energy drinks in food-to-go deals

Soft drinks firms reckon it’s worth including energy drinks in food-to-go offers

MEAL deals and food to go can be a highly lucrative way to generate footfall and drive sales in c-stores.

Yet, according to Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP), including an energy drink in a meal deal offer could make it even more appealing to shoppers.

Amy Burgess, trade communications manager at CCEP said: “Meal deals that see discounts offered when an energy drink is purchased alongside a sandwich or snack, are a great way of meeting the demands of a lunchtime shopper looking for a convenient meal on-the-go, while also giving a high perception of value.

“Retailers can maximise the potential of these offers by stocking all of the products that are eligible for the deal together, complete with POS materials signposting the meal deal.”

Boost Energy also said that including an energy drink in food to go or meal deal offers “can only benefit” sales.

A spokesman for the brand said consumers will often seek out drinks that they can grab to “top up their energy levels” as they go about their day, making energy drinks such as Boost an attractive proposition as part of a meal deal.

He said: “Due to the versatility of our product range, the inclusion of a Boost product appeals to a huge number of consumers with differing shopping missions and preferences.

“We’ve ensured all our ranges contain a mix of great flavours and regularly introduce limited-edition products to ensure those who make a habit out of including Boost in their meal deals can look forward to lots of choice and variety to keep consumers coming back.”
