NPD cuts the sugar

Reformulation has seen Muller drop total sugar by 13.5%

REFORMULATION isn’t just for soft drinks, yogurt brand Muller has also been hard at work to bring down its sugar content.

New Muller data has revealed the brand managed to reduce its total sugar by 13.5% since 2015.

Following a reformulation of its Muller Corner Strawberry flavour, which now has 19% less sugar than before, the firm has launched its first ever Muller Corner made with unsweetened natural Greek Style yogurt.

The Muller Corner Plain range replaces the Muller Greek Corner range and is said to contain on average 27% less sugar.

Muller Corner Plain is available in three flavours, Strawberry and Goji Berry, Blueberry and Elderberry, and Raspberry and Pomegranate.

All three flavours are available in a single format at an RRP of 70p or four-packs at an RRP of £2.89. The launch of Muller Corner Plain is being supported by a TV campaign featuring US entertainer Nicole Scherzinger as well as in-store and PR activity.

Bergen Merey, managing director of Muller Yogurt and Desserts commented: “By pursuing our ongoing sugar reduction strategy, partnerships with world class sport including British Athletics, exciting innovation and boosting our marketing spend by almost 25%, we have big plans to grow the yogurt category even further.”
