POS should be connected Hub says TLM

RETAIL technology needs to get smarter and adapt if it’s to meet the demands of shoppers who are increasingly pressed for time.

That’s the message from TLM Technologies, and the EPOS firm’s chief technology officer Adrian Felton reckons creating a seamless and ‘connected’ shopping experience for customers is the way to do this.

Felton explained: “The concept of a connected POS is quickly becoming a reality for many retailers looking to take their businesses forward and onto the next level.

“In short, it’s fundamentally the idea that the point of sale system is no longer simply used for totting up baskets and taking payment, but is instead a connected hub that enables integration with thousands of third-party value-added apps and services.

“This gives retailers the freedom and flexibility to build and shape their environment however they like, personalising the in-store experience for customers all while helping to boost margins and drive revenues.”

Fenton added that retailers looking for the gold standard in EPOS should seek out systems that offer mobile payment, loyalty, vouchers, all accessible through a single system, as this presents customers with the same kind of interactive functions they are already used to.
