Yellow effort raises funds

Spar Marie Curie

FOLLOWING its fantastic effort that raised £640,000 for Marie Curie in 2017, Spar stores got right behind the charity again last month.

As well as selling the charity’s daffodil pins the chain ran a number of fundraising events across the month including go yellow days for employees and donations from the sales of a number of well-known brands including, Daz, Hartley’s jam, McVities biscuits, Mars pouches and Spar brand coffee.

Managing controller Laura McNally said: “This was a great opportunity to raise money for this fantastic cause and get behind our national charity partner.

“Marie Curie’s nurses help people living with terminal illnesses and their families to make the most of the time they have left.

“Our retailers are helping everyone have the care and support they need at the end of their life.”

Helen Sock, senior corporate account manager at Marie Curie, added: “We are thrilled that Spar stores are getting behind Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal this year.

“The money raised from all these wonderful activities will ensure Marie Curie can continue providing vital support across the UK for people with a terminal illness and their families. A huge thank you to everyone at Spar.”
