COMEDIAN Peter Kay has teamed up with Warburtons for a new TV campaign that’s scheduled to hit screens later this year.

Behind the scenes images from the new ad show the star of Phoenix Nights and Car Share with bakery chairman Jonathan Warburton.

When it hits small screens, the new ad will show Bolton born Peter Kay visiting Warburton’s HQ in his home town to attempt to persuade Jonathan Warburton to buy into one of the comedian’s ideas.

Peter Kay is the latest in a line of stars to appear in Warburtons campaigns, with the comedian following in the footsteps of Hollywood action hero Sylvester Stallone, and a team of Muppets lead by banjo playing master of ceremonies Kermit the Frog.

Commenting on the campaign, Peter Kay said: “I’m delighted to be teaming up with Warburtons for their new adverts, not only because I grew up around the corner from the bakery in Bolton but also, I’ll get to go home for my tea.

“I can’t believe I’ll be following in the footsteps of Sylvester Stallone, also I don’t understand why Sly didn’t ask to get paid in free bread for life, he missed a right trick there, ah well, it’s Sly’s loss.”

Jonathan Warburton added: “As a family business, we take our baking seriously but we don’t take ourselves too seriously, so working with someone like Peter has been great fun. Can’t wait for it to hit the screens later this year.”
