A workshop designed to help ambitious wholesalers develop new skills and attitudes has been hailed a success by delegates and the organisers.
The Scottish Wholesale Association sponsored seven individuals to participate in The Gap Partnership’s Complete Skilled Negotiator programme, which focuses on how best to negotiate in any given circumstance.
Among the participants was Stuart Harrison of JW Filshill, who said: “I feel that I have really benefited from an in-depth understanding of different ways of negotiating. It has made life a lot easier when negotiating with suppliers who have been on this course or something similar.”
Executive director of the SWA Kate Salmon said: “We’ve really struck a chord with our members and it’s extremely encouraging that they are prepared to allow their most ambitious individuals to progress their careers in this way.
“In Scotland, food and drink wholesalers operate 78 depots and employ 6,900 employees generating in excess of £3bn year – it is our job to nurture their skills as we strive to enhance our sector’s role as key contributor to the Scottish economy.”
