American connection for new Orkney expression

Scapa Skiren malt May 16 _BottleWithBox.jpg[5]_1PERNOD Ricard UK has launched Scapa Skiren, a new whisky from its Orkney-based Scapa distillery.

Available to the UK off-trade now, Scapa Skiren is exclusively matured in first fill American oak casks, which the firm says gives it a smooth, creamy sweetness with a hint of tropical fruit, citrus and coastal heather.

Vicky Hoey, head of dark spirits at Pernod Ricard UK, said: “Scapa Skiren offers a very distinctive taste profile for an island malt. Our small team of Scapa artisans have selected nothing but the very finest quality, first fill American Oak casks for this exciting new expression.

“Only five dedicated artisans work in our small unique distillery, making all Scapa expressions incredibly special.”

Bottled at 40% ABV, Scapa Skiren is available has an RRP of £42 (70cl bottle), and is available nationwide.
