Grocery up but symbols down

OVERALL British grocery sales in the 12 weeks to 28 February were up 0.5% compared to the previous year according to analyst Kantar Worldpanel.

But the firm suggests independent and symbol store sales were down by 2% and that most of the growth could once again be accounted for by the major discounters Aldi, said to be up by 15%, and Lidl, up almost 19%.
