Baking goes back to the bean

Home-baking brand and manufacturer Dr. Oetker UK is adding to its established vanilla range with new Madagascan Vanilla Bean Paste.

The new product comes in a squeezable tube, which is designed to make dispensing and measuring for recipes easier and mess free for consumers.

The paste has a high content of fine Madagascan vanilla extract to deliver an intense flavour to cakes and biscuits. 100g MRRP £3.29.

Madagascan Vanilla Bean Paste is particularly recommended for use in pannacotta, creme caramel and creams, as it adds less liquid than regular extracts.

The product joins the popular Vanilla Extract, Vanilla Pods and Vanilla Grinder offered by Dr. Oetker, giving consumers even more choice for their home baking ingredients.

Vanilla in the form of paste is growing in popularity with sales up +7% YOY and now accounts for 10% of the Vanilla market, according to IRI figures quoted by the company.

Jan McKee, executive Head of Marketing at Dr. Oetker UK, comments: “The vanilla market is worth £15.4m and accounts for 78% of the overall flavours market. Stocking the most popular flavour is essential to provide consumers with a core home baking offering, plus a range of formats will ensure all preferences and requirements are catered for.

“We expect the Madagascan Vanilla Bean Paste to be extremely popular with home bakers, thanks to its convenience and fantastic, high quality vanilla content.”
