Lottery launches new kit as takings soar

NATIONAL Lottery organiser Camelot is to change permanent point of sale (PPOS) equipment across its 47,000-strong retailer estate in a massive makeover that starts in July.

The five-month retail rollout – the first such overhaul in over five years – will see retailers receive new  National Lottery Playstations, updated National Lottery Scratchcard dispensers, modernised signage, including pavement, window and wall signs, and new poster frames.

• Camelot achieved record National Lottery ticket sales of £7.277bn for the 2014/15 financial year, an increase of £546 million on the previous year.

Over the same period, National Lottery Good Causes and players shared £5.712bn, also a new record.  Total in-store sales rose by almost 7% to a new record £5.937bn. The Lotto game, re-launched in 2013, has seen two years of growth. Sales of instant play games were £2.628bn, up £487m on the previous year.
