SCOTLAND’S small stores must comply with the regulations of the tobacco display ban from 6 April.

Many shops have introduced shutters or other compliant systems ahead of the official deadline.

The ban requires shops to hide tobacco stock and tobacco accessories and reveal the items only for temporary displays during sales, customer enquiries and various stock management, training and cleaning and refurbishing practices, with a maximum reveal space of 1,000 sq cm.

The Fingertip Guide to the New Tobacco Display Laws, produced by the Scottish Grocers Federation and Scottish Wholesale Association, is available for download from the SGF website.
