THE first of Nisa’s new format stores to open in Scotland has held a community fun day to celebrate its refit.
M Hanif Superstore in Woodside Street, Coatbridge, was converted into Nisa’s Store of the Future 2 format in July last year, but owner Barry Hanif said the store has been so busy they hadn’t been able to hold the official opening till late last month.
Local Britain’s Got Talent star Edward Reid came out for the event, which included a face painter and balloon artist, and free goody bags.
“All in all it was a very good event and the refit itself has been a phenomenal success,” said Hanif, whose family bought the store in 1989.
“Last year we had Tesco Express open up just 100 yards away and the thing that makes me the happiest is we’re now doing really well up against them, which a lot of people, including myself, didn’t think we would be able to do.”
