SCOTTISH district members of the NFRN met together at a reception to celebrate independent retailers at Holyrood.
Retailers took the opportunity share their experiences and business concerns with the 20 MSPs at the event.
NFRN’s Scottish district president Sharon Sisman said: “Our members are facing challenging times. The trading environment is getting ever tougher, crimes against retailers are on the increase, costs are rising and we are facing more legislation and red tape. Never has an independent retailer needed the NFRN more.”
The trade group has also published its Scottish Public Affairs Agenda for 2015, calling for action on illicit trade, the need to simplify access to finance and recognition of the impact of the minimum wage on micro businesses.
The reception was hosted by Annabel Goldie MSP, who told attendees: “It is imperative that the vital function you have in local communities is understood and supported.”
