Firm “excited about the level of interest from independents”

TESCO-owned convenience store operator and franchise operation One Stop has officially announced that it’s bringing its brand to Scotland in 2015.
Confirming rumours reported in October’s Scottish Grocer, the company has said it will be opening both company-owned and franchise stores, starting from the central belt, serviced from its depot in Wakefield.
However, the intended numbers are being kept secret.
A One Stop spokesperson told Scottish Grocer: “As a rule we don’t disclose store number targets. We’re looking at a number of potential company-owned stores at present, as well as speaking to various independent retailers about the franchise opportunity. At this stage it’s too early to give any specifics, but we are excited about the level of interest from independents.”
One Stop says it has undertaken “extensive research” in advance of the move and has tailored its range to suit the Scottish market.
A new business development manager has also been recruited by the franchise team.
The retail company’s CEO Tony Reed said: “This is an exciting development for One Stop and we’re proud to be able to serve the Scottish market.”
