RESEARCH firm HIM revealed earlier this year that one in eight shoppers at typical forecourt stores in Britain don’t have a car.

With fuel sales falling but local shopping on the increase, it looks like there’s never been a better time for filling station operators to move beyond the traditional limits of forecourt product ranging and pricing and embrace full c-store retailing.
In recent forecourt features in Scottish Grocer we’ve told the story of forecourt businesses in Polbeth and Overtown (pictured above) that have impressively developed their stores.
And we’re on the lookout for more examples. If you have refitted or extended your store, or you’re thinking of it, we’d love to hear from you. If you have an opinion on roadside retail, or questions on aspects of retailing or regulation we’d be keen to hear from you on that too.
