SHOPPING for Christmas gifts should be fun but can be stressful. Some manufacturers are keen to give retailers and consumers the chance to spread some joy to the farmers and producers in developing countries who make some of the goodies.

Fairtrade suppliers have been launching seasonal ranges for 2014.
New from Divine are two 100g bars – Dark Chocolate with Ginger & Pear and Milk Chocolate with Spiced Toffee Apple, both retailing at £2.49.
Divine’s Luxury Belgian Collection (RRP £10) contains 16 milk and dark chocolates with soft or praline centres in a variety of flavours. Christmas Stars, Seasalt Fudge and Chocolate Orange Fudge, all made by Plush Chocolates, are also potential stocking fillers and retail at £2.49.

And returning for the festive season are Steenbergs’s Fairtrade Christmas Tea and Fairtrade Christmas Drinking Chocolate, recently packaged into new 180g tins, meaning it now contains 44% more, but the RRP is still £5.
Grumpy Yule is a Christmas coffee that is both organic and Fairtrade certified, shipped from East Africa, Indonesia and Latin America. It’s Grumpy Mule’s darker roasted variant and retails at £7.59 a tin.
