HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) says it’s about to crack down on “some of the UK’s most notorious hotspots for the sale and supply of illicit tobacco and alcohol”.

It will use the latest intelligence to identify high risk areas. Intensive bursts of activity will see officers carrying out checks on shops, warehouses, storage sites, businesses and workplaces suspected of being used to sell, store or distribute illicit tobacco and alcohol.
