Post Office says island opportunity awaits an established retailer or a new talent as Mull joins post office sites available under transformation scheme.

RECENT research has suggested post offices are some of the businesses that consumers want most in their town centres.
And the Post Office is on the lookout for someone who wants to provide the service in TV’s Balamory town.
Post Office Ltd is looking for a new operator to run a post office in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, real-life inspiration of the children’s TV classic Balamory .
The town’s current post office is located temporarily at 36 Main Street, Tobermory.
But applications are being sought from suitable retailers to operate a new local branch.
Post Office Ltd reckons it represents an opportunity for an existing store to enhance footfall, or for an operator to take on a new enterprise in partnership with the postal services firm.
It says its ongoing Network Transformation programme, which is backed by the Westminster government, has seen it invest millions in modernising branches across the UK recently. A number of business opportunities are available.
Tobermory is the main centre of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, which the postal organisation describes as a busy town with significant local and tourist business.
Kenny Lamont, area network manager for Scotland, said: “There are well over 11,500 Post Office branches across the UK and every single one serves a community that depends on it.
“The retailer who takes on Tobermory Post Office will operate at the very centre of people’s everyday lives. Post Office is committed to retaining service in Tobermory and we are keen to identify a permanent location for the branch.
“The Post Office would be a perfect addition to an existing retail business or as a new venture for keen and enterprising individuals. Offering Post Office services can drive footfall and help revenues in an existing shop, or could be the chance that a would-be retailer needs to get started.
“Around 18 million people use Post Office services each week – proof that the trusted brand of the Post Office is as dependable as ever, ” he said.
