JW Filshill managing director Simon Hannah presents the £10,000 raised from the Big Sleep Out to representatives of Shelter Scotland.

GLASGOW-based wholesaler, JW Filshill took a night-time route to raise £10,000 for the homeless charity, Shelter Scotland.

Over 30 volunteers joined Filshill’s managing director, Simon Hannah, to sleep overnight in the car park at the company’s headquarters at Hillington. Volunteers included staff, customers, suppliers and friends.
“Sleeping rough is something most of us would never want to experience and none of us can possibly imagine the stress of having to find somewhere to sleep, and stay warm and dry, every single night,” said Simon.
“The Big Sleep Out was a challenge but if the money raised can go some way to getting people off the streets, then our efforts have been worth it.
“I would like to thank my colleagues, local retailers and our customers who have supported us to raise £10,000.”
Money raised by JW Filshill will go towards Shelter Scotland initiatives, including the Glasgow Families Project, which provides support after local authorities rehouse homeless families.
