STIRLING-based brewery Traditional Scottish Ales has a new name: Black Wolf Brewery. For the relaunch there is a new range of craft beers in bottle, keg and cask, plus a new look for existing packaging and websites created by design agency, Tayburn.

New products are Tundra, an elderflower-flavoured wheat beer; Florida Black, a stout and Big Red, a red beer. The ales are joined by premium lager, Coulls, in bottle and keg.
The brewery’s existing brands – Lomond Gold, Glencoe, Ben Nevis, William Wallace, 1488 and Double Espresso – will be rebranded as Black Wolf over the coming months.
Brewery owner, VC Brands, planned the relaunch with new director and investor, Andrew Richardson. With a CV that covers Courage, McVitie’s and Diageo – as well as newspaper group Johnston Press Scotland – Richardson joined the management team at the end of last year.
The company’s new name draws on the history and heritage of Stirling, referring to the local legend of a black wolf that saved the town from ninth-century Viking invaders by howling a warning to alert the town’s defenders.
Richardson said: “We chose the name Black Wolf Brewery because we wanted a name that reflected the brewery’s Stirlingshire roots.
“We want to be known as a brewery that is passionate about the quality and taste of its beers, that is creative and is willing to experiment, and above all which makes beers that people enjoy.”
