Brits love their families… and curry

TOM yam kai, lamb bhuna, sushi, tapas, spaghetti alla puttanesca, Irish stew, croque monsieur, jambalaya. If we can say it (or even get close) then we’ll eat it.

British people are among the keenest consumers of food of other countries
British people are among the keenest consumers of food of other countries
An international survey by research firm Kantar Media TGI called What Makes the World’s Consumers Tick has found that the British love foreign food more than just about anyone else.
Some 57% of Brits said they enjoy eating foreign food, massively ahead of the international average of 38% and second only to the 61% proportion of foreign food lovers in Venezuela – sounds like a business opportunity for a porridge and haggis bar in Caracas.
And if you succeed in selling an exotic meal-for-tonight deal to customers the chances are they’ll eat it with their folks.
Because Brits also appear to be among the keenest on their families. Only 16% of British consumers said they’d be willing to sacrifice time with their family in order “to get ahead”.
That compared to a massive 80% in Slovenia who’d be willing to sacrifice domestic engagement to achieve personal progress.
Almost half of British consumers reckon they are creative. But we’re not very religious. 28% of British consumers say faith is important, compared to a global average of 61%.
