Web flight intensifies

FIGURES from the Audit Bureau of Circulations show that circulations of most of Britain’s major newspapers are continuing to decline at a time when many of the publications’ online audiences are soaring.

Mail Online, the web version of the Daily Mail, registered almost 10m visitors a day in December at a time when its newspaper circulation dropped almost 6% year on year to 1.74m.
The Guardian web visitors number was up more than 24% to 4.6m visitors a day.
Mirror Group online visitors rose 132% to more than 2m a day. Circulation of the Daily Record dropped 10.3% to 224,411.
