MEPs lobbied on Euro tobacco vote

5b_1013THE Scottish Grocers’ Federation has asked Scotland’s six members of the European Parliament to vote against European Tobacco Directive proposals being debated this month. Key proposals include:
• A complete ban on 10 packs as well as 14s, 19s and any other pack sizes less than 20 sticks.
• A complete ban on menthol cigarettes.
• A complete ban on pouches of hand-rolling tobacco under 40g (eg 12.5g and 25g).
SGF chief executive John Drummond said: “These proposals will only damage business and impact on our members’ ability to invest and create jobs in their communities.”
