Former ambassador to be whisky leader

DIPLOMAT David Frost is to be the new chief executive of the Scotch Whisky Association. He will take over from Gavin Hewitt at the end of 2013.
Frost, a former ambassador to Denmark, has also worked in Paris, Brussels, New York and Nicosia. He is currently director for Europe, trade and international affairs at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. He speaks French, German, Greek and Danish and is learning Gaelic.
He said: “My career in economic, trade and EU affairs has given me a wealth of experience of global commercial issues which will stand me in good stead in my role in the Scotch whisky industry. I am excited about taking up this new position at the helm of this highly respected trade body which provides an invaluable service to the industry.
“I am also looking forward to living and working in Edinburgh.”
