Scotland’s champions for 2013 revealed

The winners of the Scottish Grocer Awards – the Scottish food and drink retail industry’s own version of the ‘Oscars’ – were announced at a glittering event hosted by TV star and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Denise Van Outen at Glasgow’s five star Hilton Hotel on Thursday 14 March.

This year’s list of prizewinners saw some highly regarded previous champions return to the top, but 2013 also saw several excellent stores take titles at their first finals appearance. The new winners included some of Scotland’s biggest independent stores as well as some remarkable small local stores who showed they were ready to lead the way in modern retail best practice.

And, once again, Scotland’s leading retail awards showed that all over Scotland, local stores are providing vital local assets and inspiring social contributions in communities of all types.
