Retailer says bring it on

Day Today opens directly opposite town centre Aldi

RENFREW’S Aldi supermarket is facing revitalised competition this month following the opening of a new Day Today.
As previously reported in Scottish Grocer, after the discounter opened across from his Day Today Express, retailer Mohammed Jamil decided to open a new, larger store, two doors down.

The new Day Today in High Street, Renfrew, was officially opened on February 12. The ribbon was cut by owner Mohammed Jamil’s mother, Hajra Bibi.

His plan came to fruition last month with the store’s grand opening, complete with ribbon cutting, face-painting, costumed characters and giveaways.
Jamil is excited to finally be up and running.
“It hasn’t been an easy job. We’ve been working tirelessly for seven months to get it done, but the support I’ve had from the Day Today team has been just tremendous,” he said.

Day Today Renfrew Fresh end Feb 16“We’ve tripled in size from what we had before. Chilled and frozen we haven’t done at all, so this is completely new. We want to offer a full food-to-go operation. I think our alcohol range is also very impressive, with more craft beers and premium spirits.
“Just now in the local area nobody is doing this kind of thing. There’s a gap between what Aldi and Farmfoods can offer and that’s the gap we want to fill.”
