How snappy are your shelves?

WERE you wondering why some budding David Baileys were whipping out their smartphones and picturing your biscuits fixture?

Well it could be down to a consumer competition that provides some crucial in-store knowledge to Lanark-based biscuits firm Border Biscuits. It’s currently asking consumers to send it photographs of great examples of retail displays of the firm’s biscuits.

It encourages members of the public to look out for the lines, shows the company how the range is merchandised in the field and helps the team understand what catches shoppers’ eyes.

Brand and sales manager Lesley Ann Gray said: ““We have launched a new #bbspotted campaign across our social media and digital channels, calling on fans to send in pictures of the best Border Biscuits retail displays they’ve spotted.

“We’ve received some great pictures so far and we’d encourage retailers to get involved with the campaign and make the most of their Border Biscuits displays in-store.”

Gray said Border had started 2015 well.

“We have seen a 13% increase in sales and have recently entered the top 20 Scottish brands for the first time, jumping seven places to get there.

“We are currently the third-fastest growing sweet biscuit brand in the top 20.

“In particular, our Classic range continues to go from strength to strength, with demand for our Dark and Milk Chocolate Gingers at an all-time high.”

As part of its marketing activity Border started 2015 with Ginger January.

“This was a fun campaign across Facebook and Twitter to celebrate the success of our best selling Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Gingers and unite the nation over the love of all things ginger,” Gray said.
