THEY aimed to raise £20,000 for Edinburgh Sick Kids Friends Foundation and Maggie’s Cancer Centre. But after an epic seven-day trek to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a team from Spar Scotland felt on top of the world when they actually raised more than £50,000.
Retailer Susan Hutchison (owner of the Spar store in Scone) CJ Lang & Son Ltd colleagues Graham Murdoch, and Jamie Buchanan and Spar customer John Evans scaled Africa’s highest mountain after months of training.
Money was raised through collection buckets placed in stores throughout Scotland and also through personal donations.
