A world of cider on the shelf

Savanna

SOUTH African cider brand Savanna, which claims to be the fourth best selling cider in the world, has appointed SHS Sales & Marketing to support its GB operation.

Research figures are said to show it growing 72% last year (from a very low base), compared to market growth of 4%.
SHS already represents a wide range of food and drink brands including Douwe Egberts, WKD and Jordans.
Anthony Mills, head of European marketing said: “SHS brings a depth of industry knowledge that we can tap into.
“It has a stellar track record of placing great brands in the spotlight and helping them to grow. With the premium end of the market driving interest in cider, this partnership illustrates our intention to build upon Savanna’s existing success and enhance its reputation as a major cider brand within the UK.”
Peter Butler, MD of SHS, added: “Savanna has already demonstrated its consumer appeal with dramatic sales growth. We look forward to driving that performance even further with our extensive distribution network, strong trade relationships and channel expertise.”

RRP is £2.19 for the 500ml bottle; £5.99 for a four-pack of 330ml bottles and £11.50 for an eight-pack of 330ml bottles.
Brand owner AB InBev say Nielsen Scantrack measures the total fruit cider category as tripling over the last two years.
